Welcome to our Totteridge Academy careers site – a great place to train and develop your career in teaching
Totteridge Academy is a non-selective, co-educational, 11-16 community school, serving the Barnet area. The school is committed to continuous improvement, maintaining high expectations so that every individual can attain his or her best. We celebrate and are proud of the achievements of all of our students, valuing individuality and nurturing happy, confident, and hard-working young people.
The school has undergone a period of significant positive change in the last 2-3 years. In 2016 the Academy joined United Learning, and has dynamic leadership making a real difference across the school in terms of both student outcomes and a place to develop your teaching career. That progress can be seen in both their 2017 GCSE results and their Section 8 inspection in May 2017 which recognised the positive culture that has been established: ‘Leaders and those responsible for governance have rightly placed safeguarding at the centre of their plans to improve the school’. This report also noted: ‘Pupils are encouraged to collaborate, compete and take part in activities that develop their spiritual, moral, social and cultural skills’.
Providing a high quality teaching training environment is a key strategy for the school going forwards – to meet the objective of raising learning and teaching standards through training their own teachers; and secondly to develop and nurture their teachers and leaders of the future.
